Guest Post – For Online Privacy Use a VPN – Infographic

Here is another guest post offered by Josh Wardini, which first appeared in DataProt.

Yesterday was Data Privacy Day.  We live in highly connected and insecure times where our personal information is harvested and sold like a crop. Where our every move in the physical world is tracked by GPS in our phones and automobiles. Where everything we do in the virtual world is scrutinized by our Internet Service Provider, huge Internet companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Facebook, by online stores, entertainment sites, and marketing data collectors, and by our own governments.

A couple weeks ago we looked at the privacy and anonymity tool TOR, and today we are going to share information about another great privacy tool, the VPN or Virtual Private Network.  A VPN can be used to encrypt information between two Internet endpoints, between your computer and a website for example.

There are many alternatives to choose from, and some important issues to consider.  The following infographic can provide you with the guidance you need.
