Kudos again to Sophos for this story. If you use Twitter, and happen to mention your location on Twitter, the new site WeKnowYourHouse.com will post that information on it’s web site. No, you don’t have to sign up or anything!! I checked out this web site and found out that some girl name Carrie was moving to her dorm today (Aug 18th). The information is retained and displayed “only for 30 minutes” according to the WeKnowYourHouse website, but this sort of geolocation sharing is dangerous, especially since most of us do not know this is happening. Go an take a look, and click on one of the listings to see what information they are sharing without your permission
You can opt-out of this web site, which I did. If you are on Twitter, I recommend you do so too, right now, today. The opt-out link is on the bottom of their web page. When doing this they offer you a “free” download of some worthless browser toolbar which you definitely do not want, so be sure to decline that as well.
