OpenDNS Protects From Malware And Porn

OpenDNSOne of the best ways for protecting your employees, and your kids for that matter, from malware laden websites and other NSFO (not suitable for the office) websites is to subscribe to a service called OpenDNS.  We have used them with several of our clients and found them to be a great way to filter web content, at just $28 per user per year.

The product that you want to look at is called Umbrella, and works by simply using OpenDNS as your primary and secondary DNS server.  This is pretty easy to set up and does a great job of filtering out all the content you don’t need at the office.  You can also set up filtering on smartphones too.

In  a related announcement, Cisco Systems recently announced that they were acquiring OpenDNS for $635 million.
