Looking to protect yourself from fraud, identity theft, and scams? Maybe you’re wondering about the best way to use credit, how to shop for a used car, or maximize your security online. Yesterday marked the start of National Consumer Protection Week.
National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) is an event to encourage people and businesses to learn more about avoiding scams and understanding consumer rights. During NCPW, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and its partners highlight free resources to help protect consumers.
The WyzGuys Cybersecurity web log is a great source of information about how to protect yourself, your family, and your business from the barrage of cyber threats, exploits, and attacks. We offer many free workshops during the year for people who want to learn more about the nature of the current threat landscape, and how to protect themselves from bad actors.
Please visit http://www.ncpw.gov/ to learn how to get free consumer education materials and read the latest from consumer protection experts.
NCCIC/US-CERT recommends consumers participate in the FTC/Facebook live chats and review the following NCCIC/US-CERT security tips:
- Protecting Your Privacy
- Avoiding Social Engineering and Phishing Attacks
- Preventing and Responding to Identity Theft
